INCLUDED IN RATES

• Extra driver fees
• Fully equipped vehicles e.g. crockery, cutlery & bedding

• Vehicle Insurance (excess applies – see the “For Your Protection” section for more information)

• All branches have local tourist information and maps available

• Stamp Duty (2.5% of the total rental)
• Refundable Security Deposit
• Fuel and LPG costs
• One-way Fees and Location Fees if applicable

INCLUSIVE COMPONENT
A "Smart Pack" is available at an additional cost to the daily rental vehicle rate. The Pack includes:

• Excess Reduction Option 2 (nil excess)
• No Worries Cover Option (PCO2 – extends the insurance cover to include accidental damage to the overhead and underbody sections of the vehicle)
• Administration Fees (2.5% of the total rental)
• LP Gas Refill (PGO - refill for gas bottle used for cooking and heating hot water in vehicles with a hot water facility upon return of vehicle).
• Camping Stools (1 per person travelling) (from April 2008)

BACKPACKER STRONGLY RECOMMENDS THE SMART PACK FOR TRAVEL WITH COMPLETE PEACE OF MIND.

RENTAL DURATION

• Minimum rental period is five days for the Nomad, Warrior, Wanderer and Off Roader 4WD vehicle with the exception of one-way hires. Please refer to one-way rentals section for more information.
• Minimum rental period is three days for the Breezer vehicle type with the exception of one-way hires. Please refer to the one-way rentals section for more information.
• Minimum rental period is subject to change during peak periods.
• Rental days are calculated on a calendar day basis. When calculating the number of days a vehicle is rented, the day of pick-up is counted as day one of the rental, regardless of pick-up time. The day of the vehicle’s return is counted as the final day of the rental.
• Late pick-up or early return of vehicle, does not entitle the hirer to any refund of the unused portion of the rental. Late returns will be charged on a per day basis. Failure to obtain authorisation for a rental extension will result in a daily fee of AU$150 in addition to the daily rate.

RATES:
Backpacker use ‘smartrates’ to determine the daily rental rate. Backpacker smartrates are released by each Friday effective for sale from the following Monday. As such all Backpacker rates/quotes expire at the close at the close of business on Sunday. The smartrate for the entire duration of the rental is determined by the date of pick-up, location and date of booking. The daily rate will not change within one booking. Amendments prior to pick-up will be re-calculated at the smartrate applicable on the date of amendment. This applies to changing the vehicle type, reducing the number of rental days, changing pick-up dates or changing the pick-up or drop-off location. Where the number of rental days is being extended prior to pick-up, the extended days will be charged at the original smart rate which applied at the time of the original booking.

CREDIT CARD TRANSACTIONS
If a credit card is presented as payment, the credit card holder will be jointly and severally liable as a customer. Accepted credit cards are Visa Card, MasterCard and American Express. A 1.5% surcharge will apply to all credit card transactions. From April 2008, the creditcard surcharge for Visa and Mastercard will incresae to 1.75%, with American Express increasing to 4.5%. All credit card transactions are conducted in Australian dollars. Due to exchange rate fluctuations there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged. Backpacker Campervans does not accept any liability for variances up or down.
